Borderlands Online Coming to China Next Year

Chinese developer Shanda Games announced Borderlands Online today, a PC and mobile title created alongside Gearbox Studios and 2K Games. Borderlands Online is being made exclusively for Chinese markets, Kotaku reports. It’s set for launch sometime in 2015, and while it’s unclear whether it will fit into the wider Borderlands mythos, it will include the Borderlands formula of four playable characters. Specifically, what appear to be a soldier, hunter, siren and berserker, according to the press release circulated by Chinese Press. Borderlands Online will be free-to-play, much like Call of Duty Online, which is scheduled to enter open beta in China early next year. Footage surfaced more than two years ago, revealing that investment company Tencent had exclusive rights to operate Call of Duty Online in mainland China. Activision said Call of Duty Online could help the publisher tap into its “potential largest player base,” and it appears 2K and Gearbox may be making similar maneuvers with Borderlands Online.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Release Date Delayed Again

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has experienced a second delay until May 19, 2015, developer CD Projekt Red has announced. An open letter explains the game’s ambition means there are still bugs that need to be fixed and some features are not yet working correctly. As a result, the game has been pushed back by 12 weeks.

“Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game,” it begins. “We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.“
Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks.

“The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.
“With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015. “We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.” Seeing as the upcoming RPG will have over 100 hours of content along with and an all-star cast, it isn’t surprising that CD Projekt Red is taking its time to make sure the game is all it can be.

Has Hideo Kojima Revealed The Release Date For Metal Gear Solid 5?

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has caused a flurry of speculation regarding Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s release date.

At The Game Awards in Las Vegas last week, Kojima took to the stage to announce the upcoming title’s multiplayer portion, Metal Gear Online, which is set to be bundled in with all copies of MGS V. He did so while wearing a T-shirt that’s leading many on Reddit to speculate The Phantom Pain will arrive on June 22, 2015. The T-shirt looked to bear the words “tjugoandra den sjätte”, which is Swedish for “twenty-second and sixth”. I you remember, Kojima teased The Phantom Pain by creating a fake Swedish development studio called Moby Dick Studios. With Kojima fairly notorious for tricking his fans and revealing things by hiding them in plain sight, it’s unsurprising that this has caused so much speculation.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer On Street Fighter 5’s Exclusivity

Microsoft’s Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has weighed in on Street Fighter V’s PlayStation 4 and PC exclusivity. “Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them. When we have a first party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours,” Spencer said on Twitter, when asked what he thought of the announcement. The first party fighting franchise Spencer speaks of is, of course, Killer Instinct — which Microsoft acquired with the purchase of Rare back in 2002. With the game due out at some stage next year, hopefully it won’t be too long before we get official news one way or the other.

Tekken Boss Responds to Fan Backlash Regarding Lucky Chloe

Speaking via Twitter, Harada was told that Western fans were “not happy” with the Lucky Chloe character model, before being linked to a post on NeoGAF. “By the way, are you ‘Western’ only one bulletin board?” says Harada. “Hello small world. I’ll make muscular & skinhead character for you. Remember, I said we’ve more new characters and She is ONE on THEM.” Fielding another question, this time asking for an option to ‘delete’ certain characters – namely Lucky Chloe – from the active roster, Harada said that Lucky Chloe is exclusive for East Asia and Europe.

“Calm down and don’t worry. That character [is] East Asia and Europe ‘Exclusive.’ And I’ll say again, we’ve more new characters in [Tekken 7]. She is JUST one of them, and she will be country exclusive (or region exclusive). We [won’t] include her for your region. That’s why I said ‘calm down and don’t worry.'”

When asked by another user why North America won’t be seeing a release of Lucky Chloe, Harada reiterated his stance, then explained he’ll release a different character specifically designed with the NA territory in mind.
“Because you don’t need that character right? It’s simple thing. And I’ll say ‘Don’t worry’ again. I’ll release another character for you guys. I said we’ve more new characters. Example: Looks well-muscled, Skin-head, Very powerful attack (I don’t like this idea but if you need).”

German Traffic Light Uses Pong to Deter Jaywalking

German design group Urban Invention has created a tool that lets pedestrians play Pong as they wait to cross the street. The device is called ActiWait, and it replaces the usual ‘Walk’ button found at traffic lights with a touchscreen featuring a Pong-inspired game. Pedestrians can play against someone across the street as the device counts down until the next green light.Aside from being a creative idea, Urban Invention says ActiWait has potential to save lives by keeping pedestrians from jaywalking. To widen its appeal, the company is looking to add other apps to the device, such as speed dating and update-to-date news.

A working prototype is currently installed in the the city of Hildesheim, Germany and developers are looking to take it elsewhere. The company recently launched an Indiegogo campaign for $43,000/€35,000 that would fund further development and production.

Classic Maps May Be Coming to Battlefield 4

The developer asks fans to vote for which maps they’d like to see brought back from previous Battlefield games. DICE states more specific information will be revealed “in the near future.”

Twitch on Xbox One is Getting a Hefty Update

The Twitch app on Xbox One is getting a update to make it easier for Xbox Twitch users to find what they want to watch. The new update will also use Xbox Live to associate real-time gameplay statistics with Twitch broadcasts.
What does that mean exactly? Well, should a viewer want to watch a specific game stream, with specific stats, they can do so by cycling through different filters such as player stats, game modes, maps, player skill level, in-game activity, or progress. So instead of just searching ‘CoD: AW stream’ in Twitch, the app update now lets users tweak search parameters. This should hypothetically enable you to spend a match watching a Call of Duty stream broadcaster who holds the highest kill/death ratio. Other examples we were given include instantly queing up for a Halo match based on who has the highest rank in Slayer mode or discovering Forza Horizon 2 players driving who are a specific type of car.
Elsewhere in the update, Xbox One users can now view Twitch videos on demand, which allows Twitchers to watch past broadcasts at any time, irrelevant of whether the broadcaster is online or offline.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster Coming to PS4

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster will hit PS4 next year, according to a premature listing by Square Enix. The French version of the company’s official store posted the item and, though it was swiftly removed, it was still spotted by Gematsu and is available on Google cache. Seeing as the box art is also knocking about, it’s looking like this is seriously legit.

Thats all for Today,
