Transformers Universe MMO Is Shutting Down

The developers of Transformers Universe have announced that the game will be shutting down. First announced in 2011, Transformers Universe was to be a free-to-play MMO set in the lore of the popular Transformers television, comic, and movie franchise. Now Jagex and Hasbro have confirmed the game is being canceled while still in beta testing, saying:

“We’re hugely disappointed, but the game will be closing over the coming weeks before its full closure at 10am GMT [5am EST, 2am PST, or 9pm Australian] on 31st January 2015.”

The company said it wanted to thank its fans for their interest, especially those who participated in the beta test, and promised refunds to any beta testers who bought Founder’s Packs, Starter Packs, or Relics.
While Jagex didn’t give any specifics about why the game was shut down, the announcement mentions that both Jagex and Hasbro are realigning their businesses for 2015, which could mean a move away from licensed games or that the beta test wasn’t showing signs of creating a profitable game. Whatever the cause, the developers say they understand that people are going to be upset but asked that fans “bear in mind that this is obviously a challenging time for all involved, especially the CM team. There will be plenty of things we can’t comment on, so please respect their position.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 Online Heists (Finally) Revealed

To say we’ve waited a long time for multiplayer Heists to get added (for free, by the way) into Grand Theft Auto Online would be the understatement of the year. The bad news is that we still don’t have a concrete date for when it’s finally happening. The good news, however, is that we do now have a killer trailer showing them off as well as an interview with GTA Online producer and lead mission designer Imran Sarwar, who was kind enough to answer our (many) questions about this high-concept feature.
