Far Cry 4 Overrun DLC Out Now

Overrun, the latest DLC for Far Cry 4, is available now for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 through the game’s Season Pass, or it can be purchased separately. The PC version will be released on February 12.

Ubisoft has provided details on the new DLC in a developer diary. Overrun is a new PvP mode in which players must battle for control over designated locations to score points. The faction with the most points after two rounds is the match winner. Overrun will come with four new maps, as well as a new vehicle, the dune buggy.

The Overrun DLC is one of a few revealed when Far Cry 4’s Season Pass was detailed last year. The Syringe and The Hurk Deluxe pack are currently available. The Valley of the Yetis DLC has not been given a release date as of yet.

All Three Pieces of Dying Light DLC Get Release Dates

The three DLC packs coming to Dying Light have been detailed and given release dates.

All the DLC is included in the previously-revealed Season Pass with the first drop, Cuisine & Cargo, arriving today in North America, and tomorrow everywhere else in the world.

Cuisine & Cargo is apparently “available exclusively as a part of the Season Pass offer” and comes with two hardcore missions that task players with exploring two buildings sealed off in the first days of the outbreak, one being a restaurant, the other a loading bay.

This will be followed by the Ultimate Survivor Bundle in March, which comes with three special outfits and four blueprints for new “over-the-top weapons”. Finally, The Bozak Horde in May comes with a new map and mode available in both single-player and co-op. Players will be able to enter the Harran Stadium and test their abilities against progressively stronger waves of enemies.

Former Rare Developers Working on Banjo Kazooie Spiritual Successor

Former core members of Rare have announced they are working on a new game. The team’s new studio, Playtonic Games, plans to reveal details of its upcoming game “Project Ukulele” later this week.

Playtonic is aiming to turn its new project into a “worthy spiritual successor” to games team members helped build in the past, games like Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, and Viva Pinata.

The Playtonic team includes the programmer of Donkey Kong Country, the character designer behind both Banjo and Kazooie, and the artist “who made your console fit to burst with lavish environments” across several Rare games over the course of a decade.

This isn’t the first time such a project has been planned. In 2012, a group that includes Banjo series composer Grant Kirkhope and artist Steven Hurst began work on a spiritual successor to Banjo Tooie.

Playtonic promises it’s “making a real, proper, actual game,” and will reveal more details as they become available on its Twitter page.

No further details have been revealed by Playtronic, but the studio says it plans to listen to fan feedback and will use the feedback to help steer the direction of the final product.

EA Says Titanfall 2 Will Likely be on Multiple Platforms

As the mountain of evidence for a multiplatform sequel continues to rise, the publisher’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said during Monday’s Technology, Internet & Media Conference that Titanfall 2 would “probably” happen, and owners of other platforms would likely see it.

“Last year it was on the Xbox only; in the future, we haven’t yet announced, but we’ll probably have another Titanfall game,” he said. “It will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform. I think that’s a huge positive for us.”

The original title was available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC when it launched back in March 2014, though rumours about where we’ll see the sequel have been circulating for much longer. Multiple sources have claimed EA, which is publishing Titanfall 2, plans to see the next entry in Respawn’s franchise come to PS4, PC and Xbox One.

As for when we might see the game, that’s less clear. Jorgensen revealed EA wants to release at least one new first-person shooter every year. This year it’s set to be Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars: Battlefront, with next year’s offering being Battlefield 5. Whether Titanfall 2 also appears next year or if it’ll be the year after remains to be see, especially as Respawn has said 2015 will be a quiet year as the team needs to get their “heads down, back to work.”

It Will Soon Be Easier to Check Your Faction Reputation in Destiny

If you play Destiny, you probably know what a hassle it can be to check your faction reputations. Presently there’s no single place to check them all at once, and seeing where you stand requires running halfway across the Tower to each faction’s vendor. Thankfully, the User Interface Design team at Bungie knows this as well and is currently hard at work on the design of a new Reputation Panel to live in your inventory.

In this week’s Bungie Weekly Update, UI Design Lead David Candland shared details on what we can expect from the redesign.

“Since reputation really affects your buying power, it made sense to put it in close proximity to your currencies,” Candland said. “The inventory screen real estate is pretty full, so using the fly-out convention we established in the settings screen was a way to recoup some space, yet still allow tooltips for another layer of detail.”

Candland says the new Reputation Panel will be part of Update 1.1.1, alongside a Pulse Rifle overhaul, which can be expected before the end of February.

Sony Announces PlayStation Heroes

Through the PlayStation Heroes app, PS4 players can purchase digital games or add-ons. Once an item is purchased, the player is entered into a draw for the chance to play with or against a celebrity, be it online or in person.

Furthermore, Sony states that “at least” 90 per cent of the purchase goes towards a specific participating charity.

At launch, the charities will be the Make-A-Wish foundation, USO, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research. Each of which will be receiving $100,000 from Sony to start the initiative.

The app will be available for download on February 24, and allows players to find information regarding upcoming and previous celebrity gaming events, purchase content – thus granting the player a chance to win – and view videos about the events.

Consumers can pre-order the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4 today. Anyone who chooses to pre-order will gain early access to themes, which are available for $1, $5, $10, and $15 a pop. Each purchase, Sony says, will enter the buyer into first contest due for March, where they could play against snowboarder Shaun White in Bungie’s Destiny to benefit Make-A-Wish.

Demo for Microsoft’s Crazy Rollercoaster Sim Screamride Hits Today

Microsoft’s mash-up game Screamride, which combines the building and design aspects of a Roller Coaster Tycoon with Burnout’s crash mode, is getting a demo that will be available tonight.

Available on both Xbox One and Xbox 360, gamers “can try out each of the three career modes in the free demo,” Microsoft said. The full game will feature 50 levels and a “robust level creation editor.”

The game takes place in a futuristic rollercoaster testing facility, where brave, or perhaps insane, “ScreamRiders” test high-speed and destructive roller coaster designs. In IGN’s Screamride preview, we called it two parts Roller Coaster Tycoon and one part Burnout.

Testers in the game who ride the rails rate the tracks in screams, nausea, and intensity. Points are awarded for creative use of track pieces, drops, and more. There’s also a dedicated demolition mode, where tracks are set up strategically in order to fling the pods for “maximum screams and destruction.”

The full game will be available on Xbox 360 and Xbox One March 3, with each version costing $30 USD and $40 USD respectively
